The initial inspiration came from shadows reflected on grass. After a few weeks, she developed a method which did not render the chosen object on canvas as an unflat image. If the object is alive or perishable like humans and fruits and other objects, they are transformed into paintings of themselves. The style that Alexa paints is ephemeral and only the photographs of her work survive. Trompe l'oeil is achieved by combining the two techniques of photography and painting. The result is two-dimensional flattened photograph. Meade will sometimes integrate her painting into the environment around her and allows her to work within the context of their own. Thereby repealing the boundaries between photography, painting performance and installation.
